Scholar + Organizer of Networks and Organizations
Howdy. This is my temporary website as of 2019.
I am an “idea wrestler” by nature. My research and writing (MA in Sociology; PhD in Management) have analyzed how organizations, networks, and movements work and how they work together. In my scholarship, I apply this framework to social entrepreneurs, to international aid workers, to terrorist organizations, and to community associations. My goal is to better understand how real change happens. But my research is part of my true calling: to connect ideas with the people I love best, people who want to be useful, people, as poet Marge Piercy writes, “who dive into work head first/without dallying in the shallows… .”

My son, Aley, has been interested in edible landscapes. He pulled up some garlic mustard from our yard- yes it is a weed! We tried a pecan pesto with garlic and parmesean cheese. We will need to make about 100 gallons to actually make a dent in our yard's popualtion...
